Either way growing an herb garden certainly is a rewarding experience for any home gardener.

3 Easy to Grow Medicinal Herbs

Here are three common herbs that are easy to grow in any garden.

1. Calendula. Generally started from seeds, Calendula Officinalis which has strong medicinal properties displays a marigold type of flower which is beautiful enough to stand on its own just as an ornamental flower. However, the flower is also used topically to treat wounds and soothe abrasions. These flowers are hardy and make a good addition to any garden. Calendula Tagetes, which has a pungent smell, works well in keeping uninvited guests out of your vegetable garden.

2. Chamomile. Another flowering herb Chamomile displays delicate flowers, which may remind you of a daisy. The petals of this plant can be brewed and sipped to help with digestive problems and to use as an anti-inflammatory agent. This beautiful herb can be grown outdoors as well as indoors, and while there are a variety of different colors and varieties of Chamomile, usually the white flowering Chamomile is sought out for its valuable medicinal qualities.

3. Lavender. Beginning with its soothing fragrance, Lavender is both beautiful to look at and delightfully fragrant. Not only does this herb look and smell good, but it tastes good as well. Used in cuisine it adds an unmistakable taste to a variety of dishes. As an added bonus, this herb makes a good foundation plant for a butterfly garden, and it can be used for medicinal purposes. Not only is the scent enough to calm a person to the point of sleep, but it also has antiseptic properties as well as anti-inflammatory properties. One of the easiest to grow and most versatile herbs, Lavender makes a fine addition to any herb garden.

All three of these herbs can be grown outdoors in an herb garden or in a pot indoors, and they all offer not only the beauty of their blooms but curative and culinary properties as well.
